Everyday Mystic - Day Retreat

ree

EVERDAY MYSTICS (Jude Scully's book) is written from her belief that the mysterious life spark each of us brings into the world is a God spark, and it never stops flickering. It’s a reminder that the dreamer in us is also the mystic in us.  It is written from the perspective that unwittingly, religion can smother this spark with words, rituals and prohibitions, making it a no-go area for just about everyone which leaves many adrift from the historic foundations of their faith.

With her book as a base, and using language that would feel at home around a kitchen table, Jude has structured a retreat to uncover what is timeless in human development with a Christian spirituality that struggles to be recognised in twenty-first century everydayness. https://judithscully.com.au/2024/01/26/896/

Jude Scully & Clare Shearman

About the retreat

The retreat will begin at 2.00pm on Thursday 20th November with introductions and an outline of the rhythm of the retreat as well as reflection on Everyday God – every day.

On Friday we will undertake an exploration into ‘Cloud Walking’ as a way of untapping our inner mysticism.

On Saturday we will look at what makes a mystic - as Richard Rohr defines it, "A mystic is one who has moved from belief systems or belonging systems to actual inner experience" what does that look like for us?

On Sunday we will reflect on all three aspects of our faith journey to see where our humanity meets the divine in that journey.

The retreat will close at 2.30 with afternoon tea
